A Casual Ride is where riders meet, decide on a destination & organise themselves.

A RIC (rider in charge) will not always be present.


Saturday Coffee Morning and catchup from 10am - noon:

 DESTINATION RIDES 

Club Rides: There is a branch ride every Saturday or Sunday. Distances (total) and time away (approximate) are provided. Rides will vary between distance rides (200km+) and rides to more local destinations. Something to suit everyone. Rides south and west leave from NPD (Lower Queen St Richmond), east from BP Haven Road. Departure will usually be 10.00am for pre ride chat and leaving 10.30am, unless otherwise noted.

Sun Oct 27 Mussel Inn Toy Run Poster delivery to Golden Bay locations

260 kms 2-3 hours

Departs: NPD (Lower Queen St) Meet & greet 10.00am Departs 10.30am

Ride is directly to Mussel Inn – assisting with poster delivery is optional

Locations: Mussel Inn (1x), Collingwood (2x), Takaka (2x), Pohara (2x).


SATURDAY RIDE November 2 To Kaiteriteri

Departing from Alioke at 11.30am

Route decided on the day. Possibly Neudorf / Dovedale / Westbank.


Sun Nov 3 Motorcycle Advocacy Group NZ (MAGNZ) Protest Ride

Your motorcycle registration is going to have some steep increases in the next couple of years. Read all about it in the Open Letter sent to Minister for ACC (Hon Matt Doocey) from Richard Tohu, Interim Administrator for the Motorcycle Advocacy Group NZ here.

A protest ride is planned , gathering up all motorcycle groups and travelling to Blenheim for the protest.

Sun Nov 24: "Golden Bay Saddles A Gerry Tonkin Adventure" Old School Café, Pakawau

300 kms 3-4 hours

Departs: NPD (Lower Queen St) Meet & greet 10.00am Departs 10.30am

This ride is part of the ‘Pass the Saddle’ event described in your September newsletter. Get it here.

Saddles accessed today might include: Canaan Saddle, Wainui Saddle, Pigeon Saddle, Mackay Pass (Be aware this is a gravel road . This road finishes very close to the famous Bainham Store . Road riders can take the main road to Bainham , as it is sealed all the way from Collingwood) Pakawau Saddle.

Lunch stop – to be decided on the day could be Old School Cafe Pakawau.



SATURDAY Nov 30: Dinner with Westland Ulysses

Smugglers Restaurant, Tahunanui. 6.30pm. Join us to share with this branch from the West Coast.

Sun Dec 8 Branch Picnic & BBQ. Aniseed Valley.

A delightful spot for a final Social Event for the year. Branch will provide BBQ food , salads etc. Come in a car, bring your partner, children. Bring your swimming gear!

FREE to members. $20 for other non-members. Honesty system – payable to Allan.

We need a towable / trailered BBQ. Anyone out there got one and can bring it? We have a couple of small ones but they may not cope. Please let Allan know if you can help.

Bring an inexpensive Secret Santa gift – mark male / female / unisex.

Departs: Allied Service Station, Riuwaka 8.15pm : Sunset 9pm

Viewing point is Harwoods Lookout (which is the first lookout on the Takaka side of the Hill).

Casual Rides are also afternoon rides, where riders meet, decide on a destination, and organise themselves. There may be a Ride Leader assigned, but if there is not then the group determine this for themselves.

Insurance/ Liability​​​​​​​


The Club holds a public liability insurance which indemnifies the Club during officially posted Club events. This includes local runs and rallies sanctioned by the Branch. Members are expected to manage their own personal insurance responsibilities and have a road legal vehicle when participating in Club events.
